Doug's Corner
I received an email the other day, it kind of made my blood boil. It's bad enough we have the creeps on Ebay to deal with, but there is a worse type out there that really wants to steal from you in a serious way. These are the ones that want to steal it right out of your credit card and bank accounts,    the phishers. Below is the email I received -
"Hello Doug,
I wanted to write and ask you if maybe you could put something in your newsletter. On May 26th my identity was stolen by someone pretending to be Ebay. Being so inexperienced with this computer thing and with what information Ebay would ask me for I gave up all my personal info. I am just sick. The email had the Ebay logo at the top of the page and they worded the Email,  word for word,  like email I received from Ebay concerning the dispute that I told you about I have had recently with a seller. I never thought that it would happen to me. The local news T.V. station has had stories on people who this exact same thing has happened too and I  never thought that I would fall for it.  I am on total disability and it is so hard for me to comprehend that there are people who could target individuals who are in bad health. But then I guess if they will rip off the elderly then I guess they will shaft anyone. Please warn everyone. It is so authentic looking. There is an air of urgency to the email. They said that I had been suspended from Ebay and if I did not respond immediately I could have one of three things happen to me. I could be suspended indefinitely, be suspended for a certain period of time or just get a warning. Anyway, I hope that you will warn people to watch out because I would not wish this worry on anyone.
  Thank you"
