Last month there was a shamrock Smiley listed with a hand painted butterfly on it's head - the base had some damage but the lid was authentic - I had several emails questioning the authenticity - we are all so leery of the unusual and suspect tampering when something like this shows up.  It went for under $500 which was a good price considering.

Here's a couple of other butterflies - both found on shamrock Smileys.  Point of interest, the green bib Smiley tends to have the butterflies on the head while the yellow bibs tend to have the bugs, bees and patches - in fact there is a Smiley with a patch listed right now.  The seller originally listed it with a starting price of $1,000 but then after several emails lowered the starting price to $499.  If anyone has Smileys in their collection with the bugs, bees, butterflies or patches, we'd love to feature them in the newsletter.

Also, here are some additional pictures of gold Penn Dutch teapots - some of the emails I lost but I found the pictures so wanted to include these.  Terry also sent some pictures of some match holders that will be featured next month
An observation: The first GT PA Dutch teapot I found didn't have gold on the lid (like this one). I wondered about it being a replacement for a missing or damaged original. Since, I have seen more with plain lids than gold trimmed lids. (from Doug)
Until next month,
