Happy New Year everyone!  Hoping it is a wonderful year for all of you.

This has been a slow month for Ebay listings - usually December has some great offerings but not this year. Probably the most interesting piece was the white corn tall milk pitcher trimmed in gold -      I am not an avid collector of the corn but love the white corn gold trimmed set - this piece was the hardest for me to find to complete my set.
Remember newer collectors, Doug and I are always available to assist in authentication when needed. We don't want our collectors getting burned by fakes and reproductions so please feel free to contact either or both of us to assist. When in doubt, don't hesitate to check with us.

One question I get a lot is the lids not fitting well on some Smileys and a lot of Winnies. They are not always interchangeable - especially the Winnies - the oval opening tends to make a tighter fit and often times you can have six or seven Winnies and the lids will not be adaptable to most of the bases.  Makes it harder to upgrade a damaged jar by "marrying"  the two parts.  Smileys are easier unless the yellow and blue bibs - there  is an earlier larger mold with the more triangular shaped opening and then the  later more common yellow and blue bibs with more of an oval opening where most  of the lids can be swapped with no problem.  Sometimes jars that were  originally sold, the Winnies, in particular, the lids will rock slightly as they  don't set completely into the base.  We have to remember these were dime  store pottery and hence not perfect!!!!!!   Sometimes at the retail  outlet people switched lids because of a certain preference - have had so many inquiries of bank jars where the base is Smiley and the lid Winnie - talk about weird combinations but I know of a couple of cases where these were gifts and in someone's home all those years!!!

I had a collector contact me who is looking for the Mumpy kitten figurine in case any of you have one for sale.  If so, please contact me and I will put you in touch. If any  of you are interested, I am willing to keep a list of parts or items for sale and do a matching service. I am still looking for the lids to yellow fern  salt box, the green and blue flower and fern and also a gold water pail  lid. Years back we used to network heavily with Pam Curran's newsletter to complete pieces and this might be something for us to do.

Were any of you surprised with a Christmas gift of Shawnee this year? If so please share your story and pictures with us. We always welcome photos to share.
Until next  month.

Doug's corner
This pair of Sailor S/P shakers were on Ebay recently. Quite a decoration variance.
I just stumbled into this picture of a teapot, had it since April. My teapots are in boxes right now so I don't have a reference to the standard. If someone would let me know if they have one like it, please email me.
While I'm on teapots (below) - these keep showing up with some regularity.                                             Any thoughts on who made them?

One other thing, I have become aware that all Boy Blue pitchers aren't marked.
The one on the left is gold trimmed. The other unmarked one mentioned by a reader is plain.
