Happy New Year everyone!
Another year has flown by. In looking back I think we can all reflect on the pieces we have added to our collections. As I have said before, we buy a piece at a time then over the years we have managed to acquire a nice collection. Sometimes we get so impatient but in reality over many years we have each found some pretty wonderful pieces.
Overall the market is still soft but it is a good time to pick up pieces we have wanted. Being patient pays off in the long run these days. There have been a lot of bargains on Ebay recently. It has been so long since I have been on the antique trail, I can't say what the shop prices are these days. Would like to hear some reports of what others are finding???
The most notable piece on Ebay was the deer figurine - with the rarer of the decals most commonly found on the milk cans in gold - a beautiful piece but an outrageous price as well. (a thousand dollar Rudolph, happy days for the seller - Doug)
We've never seen many of the figurines with this decal, I have always wondered if there could be a complete set of them - after seeing the deer figurine, I have to believe all of the figurines in the series were decorated with that decal. Maybe in the future we will have someone send in a picture of a complete set of the figurines, all matching. The only one of the series with this decal I have is the Pekingese, my other figurine sets are complete but doubt this one ever will be - LOL!!!!
Rhonda sent a picture of a unique, possibly proto type of Chrysanthemum Smiley -
". . . but he is different. Possible a chrysanthemum that wasn't finished?? Leaves and stems seem to be a different green, but are in the same pattern as the chrysanthemum. But the flower is different. Flowers and stems are under the glaze, but the yellow centers are cold paint."
Until next month, Happy collecting
NEW YEAR wishes from Henry and his revelers !!!
