SHAWNEE TALES
Summer is almost over - there are still some big antique markets across the country for those of you on the Shawnee Trail. No one reported on Pottery Festival so not sure if it had  much Shawnee or not.
Some of you may have seen the rare animal figurines that sold on Ebay - they had the hard to find decal we normally see on the milk can salt and peppers shakers.  I have often wondered if this decal is on a complete set of the seven animal figurines as only have the Pekingese in my collection so was keeping an eye on these two.  They went for a hefty price - the seller in Wisconsin must have been pleased as was the buyer I am sure to add these to their collection!  Does anyone have any of these with this decal, if so let us know which ones.
Rhonda and Bear sent pictures of a couple of their recent finds - appreciate the sharing of these - we wish more collectors would participate.  Notice the lamp with original shade - so hard to find these days.  Few shades survive so many years.

"Hi Lin,
First to answer your question about the Smiley in the last newsletter, we haven't seen  anything like it. Not sure I care for it either, but who knows if you ever see one for real what you would think.
We finally found a few pieces. Pictures are attached. As for the lamp, we're wondering if any one has any ideas if the shade is original or not. We  have an original stage coach and train  shades and this one is the same height  and colors. But it is slightly smaller around. (Just fits inside it - top and bottom) (Hook to go over the bulb is the same on all of them, too) Doug  has mentioned a couple of  these lamps on the web site and we're wondering if  they happened to have shades?  (Guess, I would've thought they would have them pictured if they did have them.)"

Rhonda, Morty has some and thinks this looks original to him.

Note: The shade below came on a Shawnee Locomotive lamp.
Morty pointed out the abundance of fake Corn sugar shakers on Ebay, I don't follow corn so missed them completely - noticeably marked Shawnee on the side of the shaker - NOT SHAWNEE - upsetting to see the high prices these pieces are commanding.

"Hi Linda,
I just discovered your web site as I was searching for info about the cookie jar that was a wedding shower gift to my Mom, probably in 1939 or 40.
Lucky still has the remains of a sticky palate shaped label on its belly."
Please keep the pictures coming for all to enjoy and to keep the Newsletter alive.
