Everyone seems to be lamenting the end of the antique season throughout the Midwest and East. Round top was in early October and the last weekend of October was a show in Louisville but haven't had any reports of finds from either show. I managed to walk through several of the local antique malls recently and was saddened to see how many reproduction Smiley and Winnie jars there were with not one genuine vintage jar. No wonder so many of us count on Ebay for our additions.

Received a picture of some additional pieces with the Harmony House labels, I have never seen any pieces in person with Harmony House labels.
Also a picture of the table shakers in multi colors - beautiful set, I am certain these are pretty rare.
Here is a picture of two of the blue Pennsylvania Dutch tall cream pitchers with flower decals - both in the same collection. What surprises me so often with Shawnee is the consistency of the decorators on certain pieces - years back I had one of the same creamers also - with the same exact decoration. Makes me wonder if one decorator did all of certain pieces or there was a specific guideline set forth for each piece. Does anyone had one of these pitchers with a DIFFERENT DECORATION? At times like this I wish we still had some of the old timers to question about these items.
We always think of Smiley jars with the yellow lid on a shamrock base as a "married" jar but whether released from Shawnee that way or mixed up at the stores during a sale, there are just too many found this way to have been put together years down the road - two jars I have purchased over the years are shown below - I have never been a hundred percent sure about the light blue bib with the gold shamrocks BUT the shamrocks are placed similar to all the green shamrocks, no indication of the jar being re fired - it is really beautiful - I bought it as an oddity because I liked it - note, the lid is not gold, nor is there any Smiley written on the base but a beautiful piece. The blue bib over green shamrock is also one of several I have seen over the years as are the yellow bibs with the shamrock base. Always a chance that at Woolworth's years ago the customers changed the lids to suit their preferences. For some reason though, seldom are the red bibs ever found on different bases - one exception is the chrysanthemum base is sometimes found with the green bib. Would love to see pictures of any unusual pairings you have found over the years.

I recently recieved this email -
Greetings,

I was perusing so-called vintage Shawnee piggy cookie jars on Ebay and in
the midst of it all, I happened across your site.  Thanks for exposing the
frauds some of these sellers are.  I found nearly every crooked
characteristic you described among most of the Ebayers.  I would be very
interested in seeing pictures of authentic Shawnee cookie jars and other
kitchen items.

I recently scanned in an 1942 Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog and in it
was a picture of an authentic Shawnee piggy cookie jar.  And sure enough it
didn't have a shamrock on its head!  Here's a link to the page with the
picture of the original Shawnee pieces.

Thank you Alain.
I think there is another catalog page on the website with a "Smiley" called "Paddy Pig". It's funny that they got "Bo Peep" right, maybe because it's on the bottom. So I wonder how "Mother Hubbard" is marked?

In the last newsletter Lin requested some pictures of Shawnee pottery in use. I think these fall in that catagory.
