Shawnee  Tales
Well, readers, not much of a response to the challenge to submit copies of ads or literature! Have an ad from my archives of a cookie jar on a Kitchen corner shelf - an old magazine ad.
Our challengers ad contribution is below and Doug has a copy of a stock certificate.
We did get some nice pictures sent from collectors:
A really rare piece was discovered recently - I have to admit i would have missed it and was totally unaware of it's existence - what an amazing find. It is actually in Pam Currans book and somehow I had overlooked it, check pages 185 and 263. Wondering if any other collectors might have her? This one does not have the base shown in Pam's book. She is adorable! Kind of resembles the Morton salt girl and Hummel figurines - just not a piece that screams Shawnee like most do to long time collectors.
I don't hit the Shawnee trail like I used to but a friend came in from Calif this past month and we literally covered the Phoenix metropolis from west to east and had such fun. Actually found some nice items too - found two gold trim water buckets - one was lidless but at $4 I couldn't leave it - now to find a lid - hoping someone will have one or maybe there will be one listed with a damaged bottom - it has the typical decals on the yellow and blue bib Smiley cookie jars. Had had a streak of luck just before this finding two Muggsy cookie jars - the plain one with the range shakers.
A friend in the Midwest was out antiquing and found some nice pieces - she always manages to get some great bargains too.

Got this perfect Chanticleer pitcher and large shakers for $22.00 for the set. We thought that was a good price. Couple weeks ago at a Pyrex Conference, she got the yellow/green puss boots creamer and yellow Smiley creamer for $15 each.
Another - "Marked $5.00. Thought, okay, that's cool. When I paid, she said $2.68. I pointed out it was marked $5. She pointed to sign on wall, every thing was 50% off that day. So, got good deal there, and it's perfect, no chips, cracks, etc. Thought you'd like to see and maybe use in next newsletter, along with stuff I sent last week."
I guess this is the time of year to hit the flea markets and shows. Weather has been so volatile across the Midwest and East that I expect the dealers will be looking forward to the summer markets.

Until next month! Get busy and send some pictures for next month if you want this to continue as a monthly newsletter!!
