Shawnee  Tales
Summer is here!! Arizona is already low one hundreds, so a very short Spring, but after the mildest winter ever we can't complain. Just wish we had some of the flea/antique markets other area have this time of year!
Heard from a long time collector who found one of the unusual vatiation Winnie cookie jars - nice find! Sometime we stumble on to a surprise when we least expect it!
Doug and I have talked about going to an every other month newsletter - we get so much positive response, but very little contributions and sharing - it's about everyone's collections not just us. I love to talk/share Shawnee but can't just focus on my experience and we have tried to get people to share their pictures, finds and stories but with little response.
A collector sent in pictures of a pair of salt and pepper shakers - anyone have these or know of other pieces/ colors? The glaze, weight and bottom holes all say Shawnee.
Pottery Festival is next month (July) in Zanesville, Ohio. There are a couple of auctions featuring pieces from the Nelson and Billie McCoy personal collection for anyone who also collects McCoy, really exceptional pieces. Not sure if there will be much Shawnee around at local sales and shops, but worth the trip for anyone within close proximity.
A couple of pictures from the archives showing some nice displays of Shawnee.
Wishing everyone a great summer! Until next Newsletter.
