The holidays are upon us - a lot of friends have been busy decorating for Christmas even before Thanksgiving was over- seems in recent years that has taken hold more than years before.  Fun to incorporate our pottery in decorating for the seasons.  I have a lot of holiday Fitz and Floyd cookie jars I enjoy displaying.

Without going into any detail a lot of you are aware the August newsletter was partially retracted within a day or two of posting it to resolve a conflict.  Life is too short to have unresolved issues and collecting should be fun and shared among others who enjoy the same great hobby.  There were hurt feelings but for me it has never been about the pottery which any of you who have known me over the years can attest to.  I hope I can continue to share the love of this pottery as I have been doing for over 30 years. I was having serious reservations about continuing with the newsletter but it has been a lifeline for the past two years with the health issues I have been dealing with and continue to  battle.  I appreciate the support and enjoy the camaraderie and friendships cultivated over the years..

Pulling some photos from the archives with pictures of Bo Peeps and Chanticleers.  I think some of you may recall that my first gold chanticleer years ago (25 plus) was returned because of a chipped foot - my inexperience did not alert me to the rarity - in all the pictures friends have shared, I have never seen another - it was a combination of stencils and gold patterning the likes I will probably never see again.  As I have said, better to regret what you don't buy, never what you do buy!!!!  If anyone thinks this describes a chanticleer they have I would absolutely love a picture to share with other readers.

As many of you have seen in the Mangus book, they show a sold gold chanticleer teapot - unknown to most of us but years ago on Ebay I was lucky enough to buy one like it made into a lamp - it worked until my Yorkie chewed the cord - have never had it rewired.  At the time the seller had a second one but said the other one was a teapot but the lid was broken.  I've not seen others like this?
The chanticleers and goblets are the only solid gold pieces I have in my collection.  I recall many years ago a collector in Florida found a solid gold Smiley water pitcher with four of the goblets, they are very elusive - I bought the only two I have ever seen as a pair with my gold chanticleer pitcher.

Always looking to share photos and information on upcoming sales/auctions!
Until next month.  Happy Collecting.

Merry Christmas!  See you next year!
