We have some pictures coming in to share with readers - such a treat, we really appreciate the sharing of information as well as pictures.

Pottery Festival reports are that it was successful with lots of buyers and good selection of pottery.  A friend had some information about a large find in pottery which I will be sharing in the coming months. So many of the locals are descendents of former employees of the major pottery companies such as Roseville, Weller and McCoy as well as Shawnee - no telling what is in their homes, attics and basements. Likely pieces that we have never seen! I understand there will be a large auction upcoming.

Interesting how pieces that are so difficult to find in certain areas yet some collectors manage to have several. The clown on blocks is very difficult to find. I had never heard they were sold as book ends but have been told they were. A friend knows of a collector who has two pair - for years I have had collectors hoping to find one piece!!!!

I have always found the pieces with bugs and butterflies to be elusive - once in awhile they turn up on Ebay but have never come upon them in Arizona or even California when I would go to the flea markets. California does have some great pieces that turn up - have always figured it was because Calif was settled and had so much more growth before Arizona - our influx didn't start until the mid 60's and later where Calif seemed to have a lot of growth in the 40's post war. Here are some pictures with bugs and other unique markings.

Years ago after meeting up in Zanesville for Pottery Festival friends were driving back to New York. Along the way, they stopped at several antique shops/malls - in one they discovered a four place setting of Valencia - really a find as usually only one or two pieces are discovered. Lo and behold after purchasing the entire set, miles on down the road in another shop there was another table setting of four - turned out to be the same dealer and they bought that set as well. Fun stories like that keep us on the trail hunting for pieces!!! Not the same collector but here is a picture of the Valencia cookie jar and a stack of various pieces! What a treasure! Another exquisite find is a box of unopened Valencia - with he multi colored relish tray on top - I don't collect the Valencia but this is the one piece I would like to find - absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

Note: We have had this teapot in the spotlight in the past, although I can't find it at the moment. The question was is this teapot Shawnee or Brush? The real shame is - this isn't the last word. I know the owner of this teapot bought it as you see it. The problem is a batch of new Shawnee stickers showed up about 15 yrs. ago. So it's still a toss up in my book.
Kathy, I hope you see this because I can't put a hand on your address.   Doug
Keep any eye out for the Sealyham (Scottie dog) wall pockets!  Here's a gorgeous one
Do any of our readers buy or sell via Craig's List? Have heard of some collectors finding some good buys but also be sure to use caution as there have been some scary confrontations with strangers coming into your home. I have met some wonderful interesting people via Craig's but we all need to be careful.

While watching an infomercial last week I spotted a Smiley Shamrock cookie jar in the ad - has been a long long time since I've seen any Shawnee on a show or in an ad!!!
A lot more pictures coming next month.
