Shawnee Tales
June 2013
We only had one report on the Springfield Extravaganza, the collectors reported seeing NO SHAWNEE. I think the good old days are gone when there was an abundance of Shawnee at flea markets.

Today May 30) there was a cookie jar auction in Las Vegas and reports coming in are the priceswere really cheap with a few exceptions. There was not much Shawnee in the auction but a lot of really rare jars that are coveted by the serious cookie jar collector - Regal Alice in Wonderland, American Bisque Baby Huey and many others.
If I get a report of the prices each jar sold for, I will include it for those of you who collect a variety of jars. I got side tracked years back and have collected Brayton, Regal, Metlox, Helen Hutula's, Little Red Riding Hood as well as Fitz and Floyd Holiday jars and other Christmas jars. Space is definitely a factor because Shawnee is my obsession so I have to limit the other jars!!! Some of you may also follow Barb Crews Cookie Jar Digest newsletter. A lot of good information shared in it.

I recently signed up with Cookie Jar Collectors on Facebook - interesting, only drawback is I get so many notifications from all the posts.  I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm of the collectors.  Am always surprised how few Shawnee jars are included in some of the collections featured - not sure if the prices are the deterrent?  Many jar collectors tend to go for numbers rather than rarity and quality vintage.
I've included a number of pictures of snowflake, fern, and fern and flower pieces.  Salt boxes and match holders have always intrigued me and not readily found in Arizona!
I had hoped for some pictures to share with readers this month but none of the readers came through - maybe next month.
Until then,
