If you are new to pottery and see a piece that looks familiar, but the color doesn't match the book, don't worry about it. Remember they were hand painted. If the mold is right and you like it, go for it ! These lambs are a good example of color variation.

These blemished Elephants apparently didn't pass inspection, so instead of going on a planter they went into the lunch box. When you find a not normally free standing piece, check the feet or bottom to see if it was broken from the planter.

Check out this trio of Mumpy Kitttys. The two on the right are an outstanding example of the white and cream colored glazes of the early figural pieces. The gold trimmed one is nice find.
